Title: Factors Affecting the Happiness of Korean University Students

Abstract

As of 2020, in Korea, as 72.5% of high school graduates go on to college (Education Statistical Service, 2019) and college period has an impact on the social development of Korean youth, it is very important to increase the sense of happiness of college students. However, there are new terminology to express of the situation in which how young people in Korea feel their difficulties in their lives such as 'Hell Chosun, 88-Dollar-Generation, N-Give-up-Generation, and Spoon-Social-Rank’ etc. This paper summarizes the factors related to the happiness of college students in South Korea such as depression, interpersonal relationship, self-efficacy, etc. to suggest educational programs to promote the happiness of young people in Korea.

Biography

Soo-Koung Jun is an assistant professor in Namseoul University in South Korea. She graduated from Chungnam National University for B.A. in Education and from Seoul National University for M.A. in Education. She was awarded Ph.D. in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Karen Evans at Institute of Education, University of London. Her research interests are educational gerontology, professional learning, and higher education.
