Knowledge, attitude, and perceived radiation safety culture among radiologic technologists in Davao region
Abstract
This study examined the knowledge, attitudes, and perceived radiation safety culture amnng Radiologic Technologists in lhe Davao Region using a descriplive- corre]ationa1 design. Analysis of 102 convenience-sampled respondents revealed moderate knowledge levels (M = 2.54, SD — I .03), neutral attitudes (D —— 2.46, SD —— 0.505), and a perceived safely culture improvement (If 3.9h, SD —— 0.486). While educational attainment showed a stair.<a«t association with safety culture (q = 0.214, p = 0.034), olher demographic factors (age, sex, experience) and professional competencies (knowledge, attitudes) had no significant influence on safely culture perceptrons. The findings suggest that current knowledge and altitude levels among lechnologisls in private hospitals and clinics do not strongly predict safety culture implemenlatton, despite lheir routine radiation safely practices during X-ray procedures. The study concludes that while educational background influences safety culture, inslilutional intervention such as targeted training programs and improved communication channels—are essential to enhance professional competencies and workplace safety culture. Implementing lhese measures could bridge existing gaps, leading lo betler knowledge relentton, more positive attitudes, and a stronger radiation safety environment in radiology departments.
