A&E attendance reduction measures in primary care
Abstract
An audit was conducted to assess Accident and Emergency attendance trends amongst patients in primary care population. The findings showed a significant reduction in attendance by 42% following the implementation of targeted interventions. Key interventions such as care co-ordinator support, improved GP appointment availability and the introduction of specialist clinics for long-term condition management have demonstrated a significant impact in reducing unnecessary A&E visits. Continued monitoring and further enhancements could sustain and improve these results in the future and further reduce burden on secondary care.
